Same-day courier service in Chelmsford

Tasito provides dedicated same-day courier services across Chelmsford and the surrounding business areas, including Widford, Westway, Springfield, Boreham and Great Baddow. From urgent documents and trade stock to pallets, equipment and time-critical parts, we collect directly from your premises and transport the consignment straight to its destination in a vehicle matched to the load. With Chelmsford around fifteen miles from our Essex base, we are well placed for fast local collections and onward delivery into London, across the South East and throughout the UK.

Most of what we move out of Chelmsford is business-to-business: print and point-of-sale, machine parts, palletised trade stock, and professional service documents going into London. Bookings run until 4pm.

The parts of Chelmsford we collect from

The industrial side of Chelmsford is spread out, and the estate you are on changes how quickly we reach you.

Widford Industrial Area and Westway sit on the south-western side off the A1016, which is quickest for us because we are coming up from Rettendon anyway. Waterhouse Business Park and Bilton Road are in the same corner. Dukes Park and Hedgerows sit over at Springfield, Chelmsford Business Park and Springfield Business Park are the office-style sites on that side, and Drake's Lane at Little Waltham plus Waltham Road at Boreham sit north of the city off the A12.

We also cover Rignals Lane at Galleywood, Church Street at Great Baddow and the BAE Systems site at Great Baddow.

If you are on one of the office parks rather than an industrial estate, worth knowing most of those have service bays rather than loading docks, so we come in smaller.

How the roads behave

Two things decide a Chelmsford collection time and neither is the distance.

The Army and Navy junction backs up in both peaks. There is no clever way round it, so a collection booked for 08:15 in the town centre is a different job from the same collection at 10:00.

The A12 is the other. Northbound at the Boreham interchange and southbound at Margaretting are the two spots that go, and when the A12 shuts there is no parallel road of any use. If it happens mid-job we call you with a revised time rather than letting the tracking go quiet.

What we send and what fits

Chelmsford work is often palletised, so load length matters more than weight. A short wheelbase takes one pallet in a 2.1m load space at 450kg. A medium takes two standard pallets or three Euro at 800kg. A long wheelbase takes three standard or four Euro at 3.3m, an extra-long takes four standard or five Euro at 4.2m, and a Luton takes six of either in a 4.2m by 2.0m by 2.1m space at 1,000kg.

The box Luton has a tail lift, so a palletised collection from a unit with no forklift still works. The curtain-side Luton opens along the side for forklift loading, which suits the trade counters off Westway. Tell us which end has a forklift and which does not and we will send the right one.

UK pallet sizes explained covers standard against Euro if you are working out what fits, and the fleet page has the full dimensions.

Where Chelmsford work goes

Most of it goes one of two ways. South into London, which is the A130 and A13. Or further up the A12, where we pass Witham and Braintree anyway, so a Chelmsford collection with a Colchester drop costs less than booking the two separately because the mileage is already paid for.

Southbound we pass Billericay, Wickford and Basildon. Brentwood sits on the A127 leg.

Other services we run in Chelmsford

Next-day courier for anything that is not urgent, with a booked morning slot. Two-man delivery where there is nobody at the other end to help unload. Multi-drop if you are sending to a run of addresses, which suits the print and point-of-sale work we do out of Chelmsford, and fixed rates on recurring multi-drop runs if it is a route rather than a one-off.

Chelmsford questions

We come up the A130 from Rettendon and both sit on that side of the city, so they are among the quickest Chelmsford collections we do. Across Essex we can often collect inside the hour. Add time if it is between seven and nine, because the Army and Navy will have gone.

Both, and the northern estates are often faster. We come off the A12 at the Boreham interchange, so Drake's Lane at Little Waltham and Waltham Road at Boreham are reached before we would have got through the town.

It goes at Boreham northbound and Margaretting southbound, and there is no parallel road worth using. We reroute through the villages where that helps and call you with a new time. We will not sit in it and let the ETA quietly slide.

The Luton is 4.2m by 2.0m by 2.1m internally and takes six pallets. Chelmsford Business Park and the Springfield office sites are built around service bays rather than loading docks, so for those we normally send a long wheelbase and do two runs if the volume needs it. Tell us the building and we will check.

Yes, and it is cheaper than two jobs because you are already paying for the A12 mileage. Witham and Braintree sit on the same route if there is a third stop.

No. The box Luton has a tail lift, which raises a pallet between ground level and the load floor without any equipment at your end. If there is a forklift we would send the curtain-side Luton instead, because side loading is faster. Tell us what is at each end when you book, because the two ends can be different.

Call and we will tell you straight whether there is a van near enough. We are fifteen miles away rather than round the corner, so an unbooked collection depends on what is already running. Even an hour's notice makes it far more likely.

No. Chelmsford is outside the ULEZ and outside the Congestion Charge. Charges come into it only if the delivery address is in London, and we tell you which apply before we set off.
