Same-day courier service in Greenwich

Tasito provides dedicated same-day courier services across Greenwich and Charlton, including the Anchor and Hope Lane estates, Bugsby's Way, Westminster Industrial Estate and the Charlton Riverside sites. From trade stock and machine parts to pallets, equipment and time-critical parts, we collect directly from your premises and deliver in a vehicle matched to the load. Greenwich sits outside the Congestion Charge, so the charging that applies in the City does not reach here.

What does apply is the river. Every crossing to or from the north bank goes through the Blackwall or Silvertown tunnel, both are charged, and they are charged in each direction. That is the single biggest variable in a Greenwich quote, and it is why the time of day you book changes the price for identical work.

The crossing, in detail

Both tunnels charge from 06:00 to 22:00 every day except Christmas Day, and each crossing is charged separately. A collection in Essex, a drop in Greenwich and the return is two chargeable crossings.

A large van on Auto Pay pays £2.60 off-peak and £6.80 at peak. Without Auto Pay it is £6.80 at any chargeable hour, in both directions. Crossings between 22:00 and 06:00 are free.

Peak southbound is 16:00 to 19:00, Monday to Friday. That is the awkward part, because an afternoon delivery runs south in exactly the window charged at the higher rate and moving slowest. The same job at ten in the morning costs less and arrives sooner.

When a tunnel closes, and they do, the alternatives are the Woolwich Ferry or the long way round the M25 via Dartford, which puts £4.20 of Dart Charge on a two-axle van instead. Neither is quick.

Greenwich is inside the Ultra Low Emission Zone at £12.50 a day for a non-compliant van. We send ULEZ-compliant vans into London, and if the right van for a job ever is not, we tell you about the £12.50 before we set off. The Congestion Charge does not apply.

Charlton, where the industry is

The borough's industrial space sits at Charlton rather than in Greenwich itself, along the riverside.

Anchor and Hope Lane is the main concentration, with the VIP Trading Estate and VIP Industrial Estate on it, and yards and open storage alongside the units. Bugsby's Way and Westminster Industrial Estate cover the rest of Charlton Riverside.

These are estate addresses with yard access and room to manoeuvre, so a Luton gets in and six pallets at 1,000kg is realistic. Forklift loading is normal. If you have a choice of delivery point in this borough, a Charlton address is quicker and cheaper for us to serve than anything closer to the town centre.

Charlton Riverside is also under regeneration, so there is construction activity alongside the established units. Our fleet is FORS accredited and renewed for 2026, which is what gets a van through a site gate here.

Greenwich town and the peninsula

Greenwich town centre is hospitality, retail and services with heavy footfall and restricted loading. A van cannot linger, so deliveries there work best early, and we need somebody ready to take the consignment rather than a yard to back into.

The peninsula runs venue and event procedures, with accredited windows and loading gates on event days.

What we send

Three standard or four Euro pallets in a long wheelbase at 3.3m, four standard or five Euro in an extra-long at 4.2m, six in a Luton at 1,000kg. The box Luton has a tail lift, which covers the hospitality addresses with no forklift. The curtain-side loads from the side by forklift, which suits the Charlton estates. The flat bed at 2.7m and 800kg takes open-storage and construction lengths.

Where Greenwich work goes

Canary Wharf is the other side of the tunnel and the two pair naturally, though only one of them carries a toll. The City is a short run north. Back to Essex is through the tunnel and up the A13.

Other services we run in Greenwich

Multi-drop across Charlton and the peninsula, which is the right way to handle the toll because you pay the crossing once rather than per job. Two-man delivery for hospitality and venue deliveries with no loading access. Next-day courier into a morning slot, cheaper and faster through the tunnel.

Greenwich questions

Because each crossing is charged separately and a Greenwich delivery from Essex means going south and coming back. Two crossings. On Auto Pay that is £2.60 each off-peak and £6.80 each at peak, so the time of day changes the total considerably.

Mid-morning. Off-peak Auto Pay rates apply, the tunnel approach moves and you miss the 16:00 to 19:00 southbound peak entirely. A morning drop is cheaper and faster than the same job at half four.

Charlton. Anchor and Hope Lane, Bugsby's Way and the Westminster Industrial Estate all have yard access and room to manoeuvre, so a Luton gets in and six pallets is realistic. It is quicker and cheaper to serve than anything nearer the town centre.

The VIP Trading Estate and VIP Industrial Estate, plus yards and open storage alongside the units. Estate access with forklift loading, which makes it the straightest part of the borough for a van.

The alternatives are the Woolwich Ferry or the M25 round via Dartford, which adds £4.20 of Dart Charge on a two-axle van. Neither is quick. We call you with a revised time and cost rather than absorbing it quietly or sitting in it.

No, Greenwich is outside the central zone. ULEZ applies as it does across every London borough. The river crossing is the charge that matters here.

No. One vehicle crossing once pays once in each direction regardless of how many drops it makes. That is the main argument for multi-drop on this side of the river.

Yes, the morning. We take bookings until 4pm Monday to Friday, but a late one means crossing southbound between 16:00 and 19:00 at £6.80 rather than £2.60, and twice over on a return.
