Same-day courier services on Canvey Island

Same-day collections on Canvey Island, from Charfleets and Roscommon Way to the Thames oil terminals. One road on and off, which we plan around.

Same-day courier service in Canvey Island

Tasito provides dedicated same-day courier services across Canvey Island, including Charfleets Industrial Estate, the units along Roscommon Way and Thamesview, and the Thames oil and gas terminals. From trade stock and machine parts to pallets, equipment and time-critical consignments, we collect directly from your premises and deliver in a vehicle matched to the load. Two things shape a Canvey job and both are about access rather than distance.

One way on, one way off

Canvey is an island, and the road access is limited. Everything comes in and out over the same crossings, and when there is an incident on them there is no alternative route at all. On the mainland a blocked road means a diversion. On Canvey it means waiting.

In practice this is fine and the island is quick to reach. What it changes is how we quote. If your consignment has a hard deadline we build in more margin for a Canvey job than for a mainland one of the same distance, because the downside risk has no workaround. We would rather give you a slightly wider window and hit it.

The industrial side

Charfleets Industrial Estate is the main commercial site, with the units along Roscommon Way and Thamesview covering much of the rest. Those are ordinary estate collections with yard access, so a Luton gets in and forklift loading is normal.

Then there are the Thames terminals. Canvey has a long history as an oil and gas storage location and the Oikos terminal on the eastern side is still operating. These are not estate addresses. Large fuel and chemical storage sites run their own site entry procedures, permits, inductions and safety rules, and a driver turning up without the right paperwork does not get through the gate.

If your collection or delivery is at a terminal rather than an industrial unit, tell us at booking and give us the site contact and whatever the gate requires. That includes any requirement for specific PPE or a site induction, which has to be arranged beforehand.

Our fleet is FORS accredited and renewed for 2026, which is an audited standard covering safety, driver training and emissions management and is the kind of thing larger industrial sites ask about.

What we carry

Palletised trade and industrial goods off Charfleets, equipment and parts for the terminals and the energy businesses, and retail and hospitality stock for the town and seafront.

What we send

One pallet in a short wheelbase at 450kg, two standard or three Euro in a medium at 800kg, three standard or four Euro in a long wheelbase at 3.3m, four standard or five Euro in an extra-long, six in a Luton at 1,000kg. The flat bed at 2.7m and 800kg handles pipework, lengths and anything that will not go through a van door, which comes up more here than in most places.

The curtain-side Luton loads from the side by forklift. The box Luton has a tail lift.

Where Canvey work goes

Benfleet is straight back over the crossing, Basildon and Grays west on the A13, Southend-on-Sea east, and London down the A13.

Other services we run on Canvey Island

Two-man delivery for equipment and plant parts that need handling at the far end. Multi-drop combining Canvey with Benfleet and Basildon on one run. Next-day courier where tomorrow morning works, which given the access risk is often the sensible choice for anything non-urgent.

Canvey Island questions

Not normally. It is eight miles and the crossings are quick. What it changes is the risk, because there is no alternative route if something blocks the way on or off. For a hard deadline we build more margin into a Canvey window than a mainland one and then hit it, rather than quoting tight and missing.

The industrial estates, yes, routinely. Terminal sites run their own entry procedures, permits and inductions, so tell us at booking which site it is and give us the gate contact and any requirements. Inductions and permits have to be arranged in advance, not negotiated at the barrier.

Palletised trade and industrial goods mostly, which is ordinary estate work with yard access. The curtain-side Luton is the right vehicle where there is a forklift, and the box Luton's tail lift covers it where there is not.

Yes, and that is what the flat bed is for. It has a 2.7m load length and carries 800kg, which handles lengths and awkward shapes that will not fit through a van door. It comes up more often on Canvey than in most places we serve.

The fleet is FORS accredited and renewed for 2026, which is an audited standard covering safety, driver training, fuel efficiency and emissions management. Individual sites may have their own additional requirements, so tell us what the gate asks for.

Off the A13 at Sadlers Farm and over the crossing. Sadlers Farm itself is the pinch point in the peaks rather than anything on the island.

Yes, and that is the efficient way to do it. The three sit on one route, so you pay the mileage once rather than three times for the same work.

For a terminal collection, yes. We take bookings until 4pm Monday to Friday, but fuel and chemical storage sites work to their own gate hours and those often close earlier. Give us the site deadline rather than the end of your working day.
