Same-day courier services in Grays

Ten miles from Basildon down the A13. Same-day collections from Hogg Lane, Grays West and Manorway, with the Dartford Crossing cost explained up front.

Same-day courier service in Grays

Tasito provides dedicated same-day courier services across Grays, including Hogg Lane, Grays West and Grays South at Manorway, with Thurrock Park and Globe Works just east at Little Thurrock. From trade stock and machine parts to pallets, port freight and time-critical consignments, we collect directly from your premises and transport the consignment straight to its destination in a vehicle matched to the load. What matters more than the estate name here is the type of site, because port and distribution operations run booked slots and gate procedures.

Where we collect in Grays

Grays Hogg Lane, Grays West and Grays South at Manorway are the three main employment areas. Thurrock Park and Globe Works sit just east at Little Thurrock, and Titan Pitt is off Hogg Lane.

What matters more than the estate name here is the type of site. Port and distribution operations run booked slots and gate procedures, not walk-up loading. A driver arriving without a booking reference at a distribution shed waits, and the wait is on your clock. Give us the booking reference, the gate and the slot time when you place the job and the collection goes cleanly.

The Dartford Crossing

This is the Grays page's own problem and it is worth being direct about it.

If the job stays in Essex or goes into London, the crossing never comes into it. If it carries on into Kent, the Dart Charge applies. A two-axle van pays £4.20 for a one-off payment or £3.60 on a pre-pay account, and crossings between 22:00 and 06:00 are free. Rates went up on 1 September 2025.

The charge is the small part. The queue is the bigger cost. The M25 approach to the crossing backs up badly and when it does it spills onto the A13, which means a Grays collection can be slowed by a crossing the job is never going to use. If your consignment is going south of the river we tell you at booking whether the crossing or the Blackwall and Silvertown tunnels is the better call that day, and what each costs.

What we send

Port and distribution work is palletised, so load length is the number to check. One pallet in a short wheelbase at 2.1m, two standard or three Euro in a medium at 2.7m, three standard or four Euro in a long wheelbase at 3.3m, four standard or five Euro in an extra-long at 4.2m, and six in a Luton.

Most distribution sites load by forklift from a dock, which is the easy case and where we would send the curtain-side Luton because side access is quicker. For anything going on to a site with no dock and no forklift, the box Luton has a tail lift. The collection end and the delivery end are often different, so tell us about both.

UK pallet sizes explained covers the standard and Euro footprints, and the fleet page has every class.

Where Grays work goes

Grays, Tilbury, Purfleet, West Thurrock and Lakeside are effectively one run for us, so a collection in one and a drop in another is a single job rather than two. Into London is back up the A13. Back east is Basildon.

Other services we run in Grays

Multi-drop suits the distribution work here because the drops cluster along the same corridor, and fixed rates on recurring runs is worth a look if it is a weekly route rather than a one-off. Next-day courier where the deadline is tomorrow. Two-man delivery for anything going to a site with no forklift and no dock.

Grays questions

Ten miles west on the A13 and these are among the fastest collections we do. What slows them is not the distance, it is the A13 at the Manorway and Lakeside junctions and anything backing up from the Dartford Crossing. Across Essex we can often collect inside the hour.

Yes, if the site runs slots, and most of them do. Our driver without a gate reference waits at the barrier, and that wait is time you are paying for. Booking reference, gate number and slot time at the point of ordering fixes it.

Only if the job crosses into Kent. A two-axle van is £4.20 one-off or £3.60 on a pre-pay account, free between 22:00 and 06:00. If your consignment stays in Essex or goes into London it never applies, and we tell you before we set off which charges your job picks up.

Depends on the day and the time. The Dartford Crossing is £4.20 for a van and the queue is the real cost. Blackwall and Silvertown are £2.60 off-peak on Auto Pay and £6.80 at peak, with peak southbound 16:00 to 19:00 on weekdays. We tell you which is quicker and what each costs rather than picking one and adding it to the bill.

Yes. Grays, Tilbury, Purfleet, West Thurrock and Lakeside are one run for us. Treating them as separate jobs means paying the same mileage twice.

Quite different, even though they are three miles apart. Grays is trade counters and employment areas, so most collections are ordinary estate work. Tilbury is the port, which means security, booked slots, freight deadlines and paperwork we do not have unless you give it to us. If your consignment is at the port rather than in the town, the Tilbury page covers what we need.

The long wheelbase, extra-long and Luton all carry up to 1,000kg across the whole load. The medium wheelbase is 800kg and the short wheelbase 450kg. If you are loading by forklift from a dock, weight is rarely the constraint, load length is. Give us the individual pallet weights rather than the total and we will get the vehicle right first time.

No. Grays is in Thurrock, outside the ULEZ and outside the Congestion Charge. The only charge in play here is the Dartford Crossing, and only if the job goes into Kent.
