Same-day courier services at Lakeside

Same-day courier to Lakeside from Essex, eleven miles down the A13. Retail service yard access inside the centre's booked delivery windows.

Same-day courier service in Lakeside

Tasito provides dedicated same-day courier services to Lakeside, covering the centre's retail units and the service yards behind them. From retail stock and display material to equipment and time-critical consignments, we collect directly from your premises and deliver in a vehicle matched to the load. Lakeside is retail almost entirely, and retail delivery runs to the centre's timetable rather than ours, inside booked delivery windows.

The window is the job

A shopping centre does not take deliveries when it suits the courier. It takes them through a service yard, inside a booked window, usually early and usually before the centre is busy with customers.

That is the single most important thing about a Lakeside booking. Give us the window and we build the run around it. A van arriving at two in the afternoon at a yard that closes to deliveries at eleven has not delivered anything, and the 4pm booking cut-off we quote everywhere else is not the constraint here.

For the retail parks and the units outside the centre itself, access is easier and the hours are longer, but most still prefer deliveries before trading picks up.

Seasonality is real here

Retail volume is not flat across the year and Lakeside is the clearest example of that on our network. From late autumn into the Christmas period the yards get busier, the slots get tighter and the roads around the centre get considerably worse.

If you are planning replenishment runs through that period, booking them as a scheduled route rather than a series of same-day jobs is both cheaper and more reliable. That is planning, routing and sorting rather than same-day, and we would rather tell you that in October than take premium bookings in December.

What we carry

Retail stock and replenishment, point-of-sale and display material, fit-out items, and equipment for the units. Fashion and general retail stock dominates.

A lot of it is bulky rather than heavy, which matters for vehicle choice. Hanging garments, boxed stock and display units fill a van long before they trouble the payload, so the question is volume rather than weight.

Access and the roads

The A13 at the Lakeside junction is the pinch point, and anything queuing for the Dartford Crossing on the M25 spills into it. The service road system around the centre is one-way in places and the yards have their own entrances separate from the public car parks, so an accurate yard name matters more than a postcode.

Charges

No ULEZ and no Congestion Charge. Lakeside is Essex.

The Dartford Crossing applies only if the job carries on into Kent, at £4.20 for a two-axle van or £3.60 on a pre-pay account.

What we send

Volume rather than payload drives this one. The Luton gives the most usable space at 4.2m by 2.0m by 2.1m and takes six pallets at 1,000kg, and the box version has a tail lift which is useful at a yard without a dock. An extra-long wheelbase at 4.2m takes four standard or five Euro pallets in a narrower body.

For a single store delivery inside a booked window, something smaller is often quicker through the yard and cheaper for you.

The fleet page has every class and Luton dimensions and payload covers the space against weight question, which is the relevant one for retail stock.

Where Lakeside work goes

Grays, Thurrock, Purfleet-on-Thames and Tilbury are all on the same corridor. Basildon is east, London is up the A13, and Croydon is the one south London run that starts sensibly from here.

Other services we run at Lakeside

Multi-drop across several units in one visit, which given the number of stores in one place is the obvious fit. Two-man delivery for display units, fixtures and anything going into a shop rather than to a yard. Next-day courier into a booked morning slot, which suits retail replenishment better than same-day in most cases.

Lakeside questions

Inside whatever window the centre gives you, which is usually early and before trading gets busy. Give us the window at booking. Our 4pm cut-off is not the relevant constraint here, the yard's hours are.

The yard entrance, the delivery window and a contact. The service roads around the centre are one-way in places and the yards have their own entrances separate from the public car parks, so a postcode alone is not much help.

Considerably. The yards are busier, the slots are tighter and the roads around the centre are worse. If you have replenishment to plan through that period, book it as a scheduled route rather than a run of same-day jobs. It is cheaper and far more reliable, and we would rather say so in October.

Volume is your constraint rather than payload, so the Luton is usually right: 4.2m by 2.0m by 2.1m is the most usable space we have. For a single store inside a tight window, something smaller often gets through the yard faster and costs less.

Yes, and it is the sensible way to do it here. One vehicle, the drops sequenced around the yard windows rather than the geography. You pay the mileage once instead of per store.

That is a two-person crew. They will carry it in and position it, which is what a retail fit-out or a display unit needs. Assembly and installation sit outside what the crew does, so tell us if a fitter is needed as well.

It can, and it is the main risk on this run. The Dartford Crossing approach backs up onto the M25 and spills into the A13 at the Lakeside junction, which is our way in. A queue for a crossing your delivery will never use can still cost you a service yard slot, so for a tight window we build that into the timing rather than quoting a clear road.

Next-day, usually. Yard windows are booked in advance anyway, so paying a same-day premium rarely buys you an earlier slot. Same-day is worth it when a store has run out of something that is selling.
