Two-man delivery services in Essex

Two-man delivery across Essex. A crew of two with the van, for loads that need carrying in rather than leaving at the kerb.

Two-man delivery across Essex

Tasito provides dedicated two-man delivery across Essex, from the retail parks and town centres at Basildon, Chelmsford and Lakeside out to Colchester, Braintree and the Thames corridor. From office furniture and retail display units to machinery, white goods and fit-out materials, a crew of two travels with the vehicle and carries the consignment in rather than leaving it where the van stops.

The crew is booked rather than added at the far end. The second person is on the job from collection, which is what makes the difference at both ends and why it is arranged in advance rather than discovered on arrival.

When you need two people

Three things decide it, and only one of them is weight.

Weight is the obvious one. Anything a single driver should not be lifting alone needs a crew, and that threshold is lower than people assume once stairs or a long carry are involved.

Shape is the second and it catches more jobs than weight does. A lightweight display unit, a long worktop, a flat-packed desk, a framed panel: none of them heavy, all of them impossible to manage alone without damage.

Access is the third. A ground floor unit with a roller door needs one person. The same item going to a second-floor office with no lift, through a fire door and round a corner, needs two regardless of what it weighs.

If you are not sure, tell us the item, the floor it is going to and how it gets in, and we will tell you which you need rather than guessing on the day.

Who books a two-person crew in Essex

Office moves and furniture are the biggest share, and Essex has plenty of them: the business parks at Chelmsford, the professional offices through Billericay, Brentwood and Shenfield, and the serviced space around Harlow and Basildon.

Retail and display is the second, particularly fit-outs and point-of-sale going into stores at Lakeside, Braintree Village and the town centres. Those usually need the goods inside the unit rather than in the service yard.

The third is equipment and machinery off the industrial estates. Burnt Mills and Cranes in Basildon, Severalls in Colchester, Springwood in Braintree, Charfleets on Canvey. A machine part can be a one-person job on a pallet and a two-person job once it comes off.

What the crew does not do is assemble or install. They will carry it in, position it where you want it and take the packaging away if you ask. A fitter is a separate arrangement and worth saying at booking so nobody is waiting.

Access, and what we check before the day

Most two-person jobs that go wrong go wrong on access rather than on the lifting.

Tell us the floor, the lift and its size, how far the carry is from where the van can legally stop, and what is in the way: stairs, a turn, a narrow doorway. Measure the doorway if the item is close.

Parking matters more than people expect in the Essex town centres. Chelmsford, Brentwood, Billericay and Rayleigh all have loading restrictions through the middle, so we need somebody ready at the agreed time rather than a van circling.

At the other end of the scale, the industrial estates are easy. Yards, roller doors and room to reverse, which is why the same job costs less off Burnt Mills than it does on a High Street.

The vehicle a crew travels in

What the item weighs matters less here than where it has to end up. A crew sitting outside a narrow street in the wrong vehicle loses the morning.

A Luton gives the most usable space at 4.2m by 2.0m by 2.1m with a 1,000kg payload, and the box version has a tail lift, which does a lot of the work on heavy single items. An extra-long wheelbase at 4.2m or a long wheelbase at 3.3m is often the better answer for a tight town centre or a site where a Luton cannot get in.

For worktops, panels and anything too long to go in through a doorway, the flat bed gives 2.7m of open length at 800kg.

Blankets and straps are standard on this work. Every class and its dimensions are listed on the fleet page.

Our other Essex services

Same-day courier where one person can handle it and the deadline is today. Next-day courier for a planned delivery on a booked morning slot. Multi-drop when a crew is doing several addresses on one run, which is the usual shape for a retail fit-out across a few stores.

The full two-man delivery service covers how the crew is booked.

Essex questions

Tell us the item, its weight and dimensions, and how it gets in at the far end. Weight is only part of it. A light but awkward item up two flights needs a crew, and a heavy item onto a loading dock often does not.

Yes. Tell us how many flights, what the lift situation is and how wide the stairwell is, because that decides both the time and whether the item physically goes. Measure the narrowest doorway if the item is anywhere near it.

No. That sits outside the job. If a fitter is needed as well, book one separately and tell us when they are due, so the crew is not standing about waiting on them or the other way round.

Not reliably. The crew is allocated when the job is booked, so a second person found at short notice is not something we can promise. It costs nothing to flag it at booking and it is the single thing most likely to save the delivery.

Yes, and for retail fit-outs across several Essex stores that is the usual arrangement. One vehicle, one crew, the drops sequenced around the delivery windows.

We come in smaller and we need the receiving end ready on the dot. The van cannot sit on a restricted street while somebody goes looking for a key.

Packaging, yes, if you ask at booking. Removal of old furniture or equipment is a different job with disposal attached to it, so tell us in advance and we will say whether we can do it.

4pm, Monday to Friday, and earlier is materially better on this one. Crews are allocated rather than found, so a late afternoon call for two people is a much longer shot than one for a single driver.
