Same-day courier service across Essex
Tasito provides dedicated same-day courier services across Essex, from Basildon, Chelmsford and Brentwood through to Colchester, Southend-on-Sea, Harlow and the Thames corridor at Grays and Tilbury. From urgent documents and trade stock to pallets, equipment and time-critical parts, we collect directly from your premises and transport the consignment straight to its destination in a vehicle matched to the load. We are based in Basildon, which puts most of the county inside an hour and the furthest corner of it inside two.
Same-day means one vehicle carrying your consignment and nothing else. No depot, no sorting hub, no overnight leg. It is the fastest thing we do and the dearest, so most of this page is about when it is worth paying for and when it is not.
The parts of Essex we collect from
Essex is not one journey and the part you are in changes what we can promise.
The south of the county is our own doorstep. Basildon's estates at Burnt Mills, Cranes, Pipps Hill and Festival Business Park, Wickford at five miles, Rayleigh at six, Benfleet at five and Canvey's Charfleets estate at eight. These are short enough that a late morning call still makes an afternoon delivery into London.
The A12 corridor runs north from Chelmsford through Witham's Freebournes and Eastways estates to Colchester, where Severalls is the largest employment site in the north of the county at around 73 hectares. Braintree sits off to the west at Springwood, with the A120 running on to Stansted without touching the M25.
The Thames corridor west is Grays, Tilbury, Purfleet-on-Thames, West Thurrock and Lakeside, effectively one run for us, so a collection in one and a drop in another is a single job.
The far corners are Harlow in the north west, where the science park and the enterprise zone sites sit, and Clacton-on-Sea and Harwich in the north east at fifty and fifty-five miles. Those are planned jobs rather than reactive ones.

How a same-day booking works
You call, we take the consignment and the two addresses, and a vehicle is allocated from wherever the nearest suitable one happens to be rather than from a depot.
Bookings run until 4pm, Monday to Friday, and that applies across the whole fleet rather than only the small vans. Availability on the day decides the rest, so a 3:50pm call for a Luton is tighter than the same call for a short wheelbase. Across most of Essex we can have a van with you inside the hour.
Your consignment travels alone. No depot, no sorting hub, nothing else on board, and one driver handles it end to end. You get tracking from collection, and a call if anything changes rather than silence and a late arrival.

What we send and what fits
Eight vehicle classes, and the right one is decided by the load and by what is at each end rather than by the pallet count alone.
A short wheelbase takes one pallet in a 2.1m load space at 450kg. A medium takes two or three at 800kg over 2.7m. A long wheelbase takes three at 3.3m and an extra-long takes four at 4.2m, both with a 1,000kg payload. A Luton takes six in a 4.2m by 2.0m by 2.1m space, also at 1,000kg.
The box Luton has a tail lift, so a palletised collection from a unit with no forklift still works. The curtain-side version opens along the side for forklift loading, which suits the trade counters and yards across the Essex estates. The flat bed carries 2.7m lengths at 800kg for pipework, shafts and anything that will not go through a van door, and the refrigerated vehicle holds chilled or frozen with six pallet spaces.
UK pallet sizes explained covers standard against Euro, and the fleet page has every class with full dimensions.

Where Essex work goes, and what slows it down
Most of it goes one of two ways. South and west into London down the A127 and A13, which is the busiest direction we run. Or north up the A12, where a Chelmsford collection with a Colchester drop costs less than two separate bookings because the mileage is already paid for.
Four places decide the timing rather than the distance. Rayleigh Weir where the A127 meets the A129, Sadlers Farm on the A13, the A12 at Boreham northbound and Margaretting southbound, and M25 junction 27 for anything heading up the M11. All four go in both peaks, which is why a mid-morning collection is a different job from the same one at half eight.
Knowing those four is most of what makes a collection window worth anything. We plan the route around them rather than through them, we quote the time we can hold rather than the one a clear road would give you, and you can see where the van is the whole way.

Other services we run across Essex
Next-day courier for anything without a today deadline, which is cheaper and comes with a booked morning slot. Two-man delivery where there is nobody at the other end to help unload. Multi-drop for a run of addresses on one vehicle rather than one van per drop, and fixed rates on recurring multi-drop runs if it is a route rather than a one-off.
The full same-day courier service explains how booking and tracking work, and the same-day courier Essex page you are on covers the county end of it.

Essex questions
Across most of the county, inside the hour. South Essex is faster than that: Wickford is five miles from us, Rayleigh six, Benfleet five. Colchester at forty and Harwich at fifty-five are a different proposition and we quote a real window rather than repeating the hour.
4pm, Monday to Friday. The real limit is what is free rather than what the clock says, so call early if you need something bigger than a Transit.
If the deadline is tomorrow morning, next-day is cheaper, gets a booked slot and is more reliable. Same-day earns its money when standing still costs more than the run does: a part that has stopped a line, a replacement for something that has failed, a contract deadline today.
None. Essex sits outside both the ULEZ and the Congestion Charge. Charges only enter the picture if the delivery address is in London, and we tell you which apply before we set off. The Dartford Crossing applies only if the job carries on into Kent, at £4.20 for a two-axle van.
Yes, and it normally costs less than booking each one, because you only pay the journey once. The sensible groupings follow the roads rather than the map: the A12 north, the A127 east, the Thames corridor west.
The box Luton, which has a tail lift. Tell us at booking which end has handling equipment and which does not. It is the single most common reason a pallet collection goes wrong, and it is avoidable in one sentence at booking.
Harwich at fifty-five miles is the furthest point we cover as a planned job. Clacton-on-Sea at fifty is the same. Both work well when they are built into the day rather than called in at three in the afternoon.
Yes. The refrigerated vehicle has an insulated body and its own refrigeration unit rather than cool boxes, and holds chilled or frozen for the journey with six pallet spaces at 1,000kg. There is one of them, so earlier notice helps. Tell us the range your goods have to stay inside and we confirm before quoting.
Send us the postcodes and what is moving. You get a price in seconds and a driver within the hour.
