Two-man delivery in Tilbury

Tasito provides dedicated two-man delivery services across Tilbury and the surrounding business areas, including the Port of Tilbury and the terminals around Tilbury2, the London Distribution Park, the industrial units in the town and Tilbury South, and East Tilbury along the river. From equipment and machinery to fixtures and office and workshop furniture, a crew of two travels with the vehicle and carries each item in and positions it where you want it, with the gate and the handover agreed before anything is loaded. With Tilbury around twelve miles from our Essex base along the A13, we are well placed for quick crewed deliveries and onward runs into London, Kent and throughout the UK.

Most work here runs against a freight deadline set by something leaving, so we plan the run back from your cut-off. Bookings run until 4pm, Monday to Friday.

The parts of Tilbury we collect from

The port, the Tilbury2 terminals and the London Distribution Park run gate procedures: security, slots booked in advance, driver details beforehand and sometimes an induction. We do not hold standing passes, so access is arranged for each job. Give us the gate, the slot, the reference, a site contact and anything each person needs to clear security.

The town, Tilbury South and East Tilbury are smaller industrial units and trade premises. These are ordinary collections with no port paperwork, and usually a door the vehicle can stop at.

How the roads behave

We come out along the A13 and down into the town. When the Dartford Crossing approach queues, the tailback can reach the A13, so on any run against a cut-off we build that into the window, with extra margin for the carry at the far end.

Tilbury is in Thurrock, outside ULEZ and the Congestion Charge. If the delivery is in Kent, the Dart Charge applies at the crossing, and we include it in the price with the route. The ferry to Gravesend carries passengers only.

How the consignment is handled

The crew carries each item off the vehicle, through the gate and into the building, and positions it where you want it. Behind a gate, how far the vehicle is allowed to come decides the length of the carry, so tell us at booking.

Assembly, installation and taking old equipment away are separate work, so send us the hour your engineer is due. Tell us the floor, the goods lift and its internal depth, the tightest doorway and the longest item.

What we send and what fits

Freight is palletised and often heavy, so send the weight of each pallet as well as the count. It goes in a long or extra-long wheelbase or a Luton, and at a dock the curtain-side Luton loads from the side by forklift.

At an address with no equipment the box Luton's tail lift puts the pallet on the ground, and that is where the crew takes over. Lengths and awkward shapes go on the flat bed. The fleet page has dimensions for every class.

Where Tilbury work goes

London is west along the A13 and Basildon is east. Kent is across the Dartford Crossing. Grays and the rest of Thurrock are minutes away.

Tilbury questions

The gate, the slot time, the booking reference, the site contact, and anything each person needs to clear security. Without those a crew waits at the barrier rather than carrying.

Not a standing pass. Access is arranged for each job through the site, and with the gate, the slot and the reference the crew goes through the barrier rather than sitting at it.

That is how we would rather have it. Give us the cut-off, who it is with and the reference, and we plan backwards from it with margin, including the carry at the far end.

The weight of each pallet as well as the count. On freight work the weight usually decides the vehicle before the floor space does.

Yes. Give us the floor, the goods lift's internal depth where there is one, and how far the vehicle is allowed to come, because that distance is the carry. Where there is no lift, the flights and the tightest turn decide it.

Not with a vehicle. That service takes passengers only. South of the water means the Dartford Crossing and the Dart Charge in a two-axle van, or turning back for the tunnels.

Yes. Tilbury South, East Tilbury and the town units are ordinary commercial addresses without the port paperwork, which makes a crewed job there quicker to arrange.

No. Carried in and positioned where you want it, packaging away if you ask at booking. Installation and commissioning are separate trades, so tell us when your engineer is due.
