Two-man delivery in Colchester

Tasito runs two-man delivery across Colchester, covering Severalls Business Park, Whitehall Industrial Estate, East Gates and Moorside, Cuckoo Farm, the University Research Park, and Stane Park and Tollgate on the Stanway side. A crew of two travels with the vehicle, so furniture, fixtures, equipment and awkward single items are carried in and positioned on the floor they are going to.

Most of the employment land here sits north of the town, and the estates are not equally easy to serve, which counts for more on a crewed job than on a pallet drop. A yard with room to turn and a tight approach with nowhere to stop are two different deliveries. Colchester is about forty miles from us, up the A130 to the A12 and then north, and bookings run until 4pm.

Which estate, and what it changes

At roughly 73 hectares, Severalls Business Park is the largest of them, and Brunel Way, Heckworth Close, Wyncolls Road and Telford Way are among its addresses. It comes straight off the A12 junctions onto estate roads and yards, which makes a Luton with six pallets realistic and a crewed collection there quick.

Whitehall Industrial Estate runs to about 30 hectares, and parking difficulties there are recorded in the council's own employment land study. A crewed job still happens, though the vehicle may not be able to stand outside your unit while two people work through the load. Having the consignment ready settles that.

Moorside and East Gates is the one to flag to us. Inadequate access and servicing, along with parking problems, is what the same study found there, and on the ground that means a tight approach with limited room. We arrive smaller than the pallet count alone would suggest and we want somebody able to meet the crew. Away from those three, the FlaktWoods plant sits at Cuckoo Farm south of the A12, the University Research Park is aimed at knowledge-economy and high-technology firms, and the out-of-town work comes off Langham Airfield and Anderson's at Marks Tey.

The garrison and the institutions

The garrison is a significant employer here, and a military site controls its own access through passes, security, named contacts and sometimes a vehicle check. Arranged ahead of the day, none of that causes trouble. Put the gate, the contact and the pass arrangement on the booking, because without clearance a crew stands outside instead of carrying.

The University of Essex and the other large institutional sites take deliveries at departments rather than at one reception, so we want the department name beside the address. On a crewed job that detail is where the carry really ends, and it is the number we plan around.

The crew's scope on a Colchester delivery

Off the vehicle, through the door, up to the floor and into position. Packaging is removed where the booking covered it.

Assembly and installation are outside the job. Institutional furniture and equipment arrives in its sections and stays that way until a fitter is on site, so send us their time if the two have to meet inside a booked window. Removing the old items is separate work with disposal attached to it and belongs on the booking rather than on the day.

What we want described is the far end: the department or the floor, the lift and its internal depth, the tightest doorway on the route in, and the longest item. On a garrison or an institutional address, the gate and the goods-in arrangement go on the same list.

Forty miles, and the crew allocation

A crew of two is allocated with the vehicle rather than found at the far end, and forty miles up the A12 is the edge of our patch, so this is the service where notice does the most work. The previous day's booking secures both the crew and the hour.

What we will do is tell you where the nearest suitable vehicle is when you call and give you a window we believe. If a crewed job cannot reach a booked window today we say so and put it on a planned slot instead, which on this route is usually the better arrangement in any case. The forty miles is the long part, so once a crew is up here the second and third address add comparatively little.

What we send and what fits

Severalls loads are palletised and the yards there take any class we run. Counting up: a short wheelbase holds one pallet at 450kg, a medium two standard or three Euro at 800kg, a long wheelbase at 3.3m three standard or four Euro, an extra-long at 4.2m four standard or five Euro, and a Luton six of either at 1,000kg.

For the Severalls units the curtain-side Luton loads along the flank by forklift. The box version carries a tail lift, which brings a pallet to ground level at a receiving address with no equipment, and the crew works from there. Into Moorside and the tighter approaches we arrive smaller whatever the pallet count says. Lengths a doorway will not take travel on the flat bed, 2.7m and 800kg.

Dimensions for every class are on the fleet page, and UK pallet sizes explained compares the two footprints. Our fleet is FORS accredited and renewed for 2026, which is what a site gate asks for.

Where Colchester work goes

South on the A12 are Chelmsford and Witham, which is the reason a multi-stop run down that road beats separate bookings. West is Braintree. East are Harwich and Clacton-on-Sea. London is the far end.

Two people travel with the load for the whole of it, so the hours the receiving address can take a crew in are what set the day.

Other services we run in Colchester

Same-day courier where no crew is needed and a signature at the far end finishes it. Next-day courier on a booked morning slot, which at forty miles we will often recommend outright. Multi-drop down the A12 corridor. Planning, routing and sorting for movements that repeat, which is the point at which the distance stops mattering.

The full two-man delivery service covers how the crew is booked with the vehicle, which is the detail to settle before a delivery into a garrison or an institutional department.

Colchester questions

The previous day, where you can. The crew is allocated with the vehicle rather than found at the far end, and at forty miles that booking secures both and gets you an hour you can plan around.

Severalls, comfortably. Around 73 hectares, reached straight off the A12 junctions, laid out on estate roads with yards. Brunel Way, Heckworth Close, Wyncolls Road and Telford Way all sit on it.

Flag it in advance. Inadequate access and servicing is what the council's employment land study recorded there, with parking difficulties on top, so the vehicle arrives smaller than the pallet count suggests and we want somebody able to meet the crew.

Yes, provided the access is set up first. Passes, security and a named contact are how a military site works, so the gate, the contact and the pass arrangement all belong on the booking. Without clearance a crew stands outside instead of carrying.

Yes, and each wants the department as well as the address. A large institutional site takes deliveries at departments instead of at one reception, and on a crewed job the department is where the carry finishes.

No. Carried in and positioned where you want it. Assembly and installation are a separate trade, so send us the fitter's time if they have to follow the crew in.

The delivery address decides it. Give us the item, the floor it is heading for and the way in, and we will confirm the crew at booking.

Considerably. Those forty miles of A12 are the long part, and with a crew already on that road, Witham or Chelmsford adds comparatively little. Book the three separately and the A12 mileage gets paid for three times.
