Two-man delivery in Chelmsford

Tasito runs two-man delivery throughout Chelmsford and the business areas round it: Widford and Westway on one side, Springfield and Boreham on another, Great Baddow to the south. A crew of two travels with the vehicle, so office furniture, print and point-of-sale displays, machinery, equipment and awkward single items are carried in and positioned rather than left in a service bay.

Chelmsford's commercial space is split between industrial estates that load off a yard and office parks built around service bays, and that split is what shapes a crewed job here. Fifteen miles up the A130 puts us on the south-western side of the city quickly, so the time goes where it is needed, at the receiving address. Bookings run until 4pm.

The parts of Chelmsford we collect from

Off the A1016 on the south-western side are Widford Industrial Area and Westway, the quickest corner of the city for us, with Bilton Road and Waterhouse Business Park alongside them. Over at Springfield there is Dukes Park, and Hedgerows. North of the city off the A12 are Waltham Road at Boreham and Drake's Lane at Little Waltham. Galleywood gives us Rignals Lane, and at Great Baddow we cover Church Street and the BAE Systems site.

The office-style sites are Springfield Business Park and Chelmsford Business Park, and neither behaves like an industrial estate. A crewed collection off Widford or Westway is yard work and takes almost no time. A crewed delivery into an office park is where the job really sits.

The office parks, and the service bay

Service bays rather than loading docks is how most of the office sites here are built, so the vehicle arrives smaller than the pallet count alone would suggest. No forklift, frequently no ground floor for the goods, and a lift that governs what will go up.

That is the case for a crew in a sentence. Name the building, the floor, the lift and its internal depth, and the tightest doorway between the vehicle and the final position, and you get an answer on what fits before the vehicle loads. With no lift, the flights and the sharpest turn settle it instead. On the industrial side, say which of the two ends has a forklift, because on a Chelmsford job they are often not the same.

What the crew does, and what it does not

Down off the vehicle, in through the door, up to the floor, and set where you want it. Packaging comes back out with us where that was agreed at the time.

Assembly and installation are not part of the work. A point-of-sale run or a set of desks arrives in its sections and stays that way until a fitter is on site, so send us their time if the two have to meet. Clearing out the old furniture or equipment is a separate job with disposal attached to it and is worth raising in advance rather than on the morning.

On a floor reorganisation the useful thing to give us is the order the items are wanted in, because two people positioning as they carry beats two people shifting the same desk twice.

How the roads behave

Two things decide a Chelmsford time and the mileage is neither of them. Army and Navy fills morning and evening with nothing clever to do about it, so a crewed delivery booked into the centre for a quarter past eight is a different job from the same one at ten.

The A12 is the second. Its two failure points are the Boreham interchange heading north and Margaretting heading south, and a closure leaves no parallel road of any use. Should that land mid-job, you get a call with a new time instead of a tracking page that quietly slips, and against a booked window at the far end that call is the one that counts.

What we send and what fits

Palletised loads are the norm at the collection end here, which puts load length ahead of weight. At the top, a Luton holds six pallets of either footprint, 4.2m by 2.0m by 2.1m internally, 1,000kg across the load. Beneath it, an extra-long wheelbase at 4.2m carries four standard pallets or five Euro, and a long wheelbase at 3.3m three standard or four Euro. A medium at 800kg handles two standard or three Euro, and a short wheelbase a single pallet in 2.1m at 450kg.

For the trade counters off Westway the curtain-side Luton is the faster of the two, since a forklift works it from the flank. Where the receiving end has nothing to unload with, the box version and its tail lift bring the pallet to ground level and the crew works from there. Into Chelmsford Business Park and the Springfield office sites we normally send a long wheelbase, running twice if the volume needs it. Worktops, panels and anything too long for a doorway go on the flat bed, 2.7m and 800kg.

The fleet page carries full dimensions for every class, and UK pallet sizes explained sets standard beside Euro. Our fleet is FORS accredited and renewed for 2026, which many London sites check at the gate.

Where Chelmsford work goes

Two directions take most of it. South into London on the A130 and the A13, or north up the A12 past Witham and Braintree towards Colchester. Heading south we pass Billericay, then Wickford and Basildon, and Brentwood sits on the A127 leg.

A crew stays with the load for the whole run, so the receiving building's access hours set the shape of the day rather than the distance travelled.

Other services we run in Chelmsford

Same-day courier where one driver and a signature is all the consignment needs. Next-day courier into a booked morning slot. Multi-drop where print and point-of-sale goes out to a run of addresses, with a fixed rate where it is a route rather than a one-off. Planning, routing and sorting for repeating movements.

The full two-man delivery service explains how the crew is booked with the vehicle, which is the detail to get right before a delivery into a Springfield office park with a service bay.

Chelmsford questions

Call and we will tell you what is free. Booking the previous day secures it, and at fifteen miles an unbooked crewed collection turns on what is already out. Even an hour in hand changes the odds considerably.

Internally the Luton is 4.2m by 2.0m by 2.1m and it holds six pallets. The office parks here, though, are built round service bays instead of docks, so for those we send a long wheelbase and run it twice where the volume needs it. Name the building and we will check it.

Yes. Give us the floor, the lift and its internal depth, and the longest item in the load. Where there is no lift, the flights and the tightest turn decide what goes up.

No. Carried in and positioned where you want it. Assembly and installation are a separate trade, so tell us when your fitter is due if they have to follow the crew in.

The delivery address decides it rather than the load. Tell us the item, the floor it is going to and how it gets in, and we will tell you which you need at booking.

No. The box Luton's tail lift does that part, raising the pallet from the ground to the load floor with nothing needed at your end, and the crew takes over there. Say what is at each end, because the two are often different.

Boreham heading north, Margaretting heading south, and nothing parallel that helps. We go through the villages where that gains anything and you get a call with the revised time, which counts for more again when a window is booked at the far end.

As a separate job with disposal attached to it. Raise it in advance and we will confirm, because on a floor reorganisation it belongs in the same plan as the delivery.
