Multi-drop courier services in Essex
Multi-drop courier across Essex. One vehicle, a run of addresses, and the mileage paid once rather than once per delivery.
Multi-drop courier service across Essex
Tasito provides dedicated multi-drop courier services across Essex, running sequenced delivery routes from Basildon out through Chelmsford, Colchester, Southend-on-Sea, Braintree and the Thames corridor. From retail replenishment and trade counter stock to print, point-of-sale and palletised freight, we load once and work a planned sequence rather than sending a separate vehicle to every address.
The saving is in the mileage. On a single delivery you pay for the whole journey. On a multi-drop you pay for it once and the additional stops cost comparatively little, which is why a run of five Essex addresses on one vehicle is a different price from five separate same-day bookings.
The Essex corridors a multi-drop run follows
A good multi-drop follows the road network rather than the map, and in Essex that means three corridors.
The A12 run north takes Chelmsford, Hatfield Peverel, Witham's Freebournes and Eastways estates, and Colchester, with Braintree reachable off to the west. Five or six drops along that line add very little mileage to the first one.
The A127 and A13 run east covers Basildon's estates, Wickford, Rayleigh at the Weir, Benfleet's Manor Trading Estate, Canvey's Charfleets and Southend-on-Sea, with Shoeburyness eight miles further on if it is needed.
Grays, Tilbury, Purfleet-on-Thames, West Thurrock and Lakeside sit close enough together to work as one sequence, which makes the western corridor the easiest run in the county to plan.
Routes that cut across corridors cost more than routes that follow one. If your delivery list spans two, say so at booking and we will price it both ways before you commit.

How a multi-drop is priced and sequenced
Three things set the price: the total mileage of the route, the number of stops, and how much time each stop takes.
The mileage is usually the biggest number and it is paid once. The stops are the cheap part on a tight route and the expensive part on a scattered one. The time per stop is the variable people forget, because a trade counter you can walk into is a different job from a retail yard with a booked window and a queue.
We sequence around the constraints rather than the geography. A Lakeside service yard with a 7am window comes before a Chelmsford trade counter that is open all day, even if the map says otherwise. Tell us which drops have fixed windows and which are flexible and the route gets built around that.

Recurring routes and fixed rates
If the same run happens every week, stop booking it as individual jobs.
A scheduled route gets fixed pricing, a set sequence and a known vehicle, and it costs less than the same movements booked ad hoc because the capacity is planned rather than found. It is also more reliable, since the route exists in the schedule rather than being fitted into whatever else that day holds.
Fixed rates on recurring multi-drop runs explains how that works. Where the requirement is bigger than a route, planning, routing and sorting covers the whole operation rather than the vehicle.

Sizing the vehicle for the whole route
The vehicle is decided by the total load, not the largest drop.
A Luton takes six pallets in a 4.2m by 2.0m by 2.1m space at 1,000kg across the whole load, which covers most Essex multi-drop work. An extra-long wheelbase takes four at 4.2m and a long wheelbase three at 3.3m, both on the same 1,000kg payload. For bulky but light retail stock, volume runs out before weight does, so the Luton is usually right even when the payload is nowhere near 1,000kg.
A tail lift does most of the work on a mixed route, so the box Luton usually wins over the curtain-side version. Side loading is faster where there is a forklift, and on a route where half the drops have no handling equipment at all, the tail lift works everywhere.
Mixed pallet types on one route are fine. The difference between standard and Euro is explained in UK pallet sizes explained, and every class we run is listed on the fleet page.

What else we run alongside a route
Same-day courier for a single urgent consignment rather than a route. Next-day courier for one planned delivery with a booked slot. Two-man delivery where the items need two people at the far end, which some retail and fit-out routes do.

Essex questions
It depends on the corridor and the time each stop takes rather than on a number. A tight Thames corridor route through Grays, Tilbury and Lakeside fits far more stops than the same count spread between Harlow and Clacton. Send us the address list and we will tell you what fits.
Route mileage first, then the stops. The mileage is the big number and you pay it once, which is the whole point. A scattered list costs more than a tight one even with the same number of drops.
Yes, and the route is sequenced around them rather than around the map. Retail yards and distribution sites usually set their own windows. Tell us which drops are fixed and which are flexible at booking.
That works, and it is often cheaper than splitting it, because you pay the London leg once. The charging changes though: £18 a day in the central Congestion Charge zone and £12.50 for a non-compliant van anywhere in the ULEZ. We tell you which applies before we set off.
Yes, and it is a good share of this work. Store yards, booked windows, sequenced drops. For anything going inside the shop rather than to the yard, book a two-person crew with it.
Yes. Put it on a schedule and the price is agreed up front for the whole route, the sequence stays the same and you get the same vehicle each time. It comes in under the ad hoc version.
Yes, and it works the same way in reverse. Several Essex collections consolidated into one delivery is a common shape, particularly for freight heading into London or to a port.
If the total load fits. Six pallets at 1,000kg is the Luton limit and that is the ceiling for a single-vehicle route. Give us the full list with weights and we will confirm the vehicle count before you book, not on the day.
Send us the postcodes and what is moving. You get a price in seconds and a driver within the hour.
