Two-man delivery in Canvey Island

Tasito provides dedicated two-man delivery services across Canvey Island and the surrounding business areas, including Charfleets Industrial Estate, the units along Roscommon Way and Thamesview, the terminals on the eastern side, and the retail and hospitality addresses through the town and along the seafront. From equipment and plant parts to fixtures and furniture, a crew of two travels with the vehicle and carries each item in and positions it where you want it, with the access and the handover agreed before anything is loaded. With Canvey Island around eight miles from our Essex base via the A13, we are well placed for quick crewed deliveries and onward runs into London and across the South East.

Most crewed work here is equipment and fixtures off the estates, or stock and furniture into the retail and hospitality addresses. Bookings run until 4pm, Monday to Friday.

The parts of Canvey Island we collect from

Charfleets Industrial Estate carries most of the island's commercial units, with more along Roscommon Way and Thamesview. They load off a yard, usually with a forklift and room for a Luton, so the collection is quick and the work moves to the far end.

The terminals on the eastern side each run their own entry procedure, permits and inductions. Where either end of the job is a terminal, name the site, give us a contact and tell us what the gate needs, including PPE and inductions, and we settle it before the day.

How the roads behave

Traffic on and off the island shares the same crossings, with no way round them, so against a hard deadline we allow a wider window than for a mainland address. In the peaks it is Sadlers Farm on the A13 that costs the time.

Canvey Island is in Essex, outside ULEZ and the Congestion Charge. If the delivery goes into London, the charges for that address apply, and we include them in the price with the route.

How the consignment is handled

The crew carries each item off the vehicle, through the door and into position. Retail and hospitality addresses in the town and along the seafront are where the second person does the work a dock would otherwise do.

Assembly, installation and removing old units are separate work, so give us your engineer's time if they need to follow the crew in. Tell us the floor, the lift if there is one, the tightest doorway and the longest item when you book, and for a terminal add the gate and the induction.

What we send and what fits

Charfleets loads are usually palletised and go in a long or extra-long wheelbase or a Luton. The curtain-side Luton loads from the side by forklift, and the box Luton's tail lift covers an address with nothing to unload with.

Pipework, long sections and anything a van door will not take go on the flat bed. Town and seafront addresses usually suit a short or medium wheelbase. The fleet page has dimensions for every class.

Where Canvey Island work goes

Benfleet is back over the crossing, Basildon is west along the A13 and Southend-on-Sea is east. London is at the far end of the A13. Where the far end is a terminal or a building with set hours, those hours come before our own cut-off.

Canvey Island questions

The industrial estates, routinely. A terminal has its own entry procedure, its own permits and its own inductions, so name the site and give us the gate contact plus whatever it asks for. None of that gets negotiated at the barrier.

Call and we will tell you what is free. The previous day secures the crew, and where there is a site induction or a permit at the far end, earlier than that is better still.

No. Carried in and positioned where you want it. Installation and commissioning are a separate trade, so give us your engineer's time if they have to follow the crew in.

The delivery address decides it. Tell us the item, the floor it is going to and how it gets in, and we will tell you which you need at booking.

Yes, on the flat bed, which takes sections a van door will not. Tell us the longest length when you book.

It affects the window rather than the distance. Against a hard deadline we put a wider margin on an island address than on a mainland one, then hit it, because a blocked crossing has no diversion behind it.

Yes. Retail and hospitality addresses through the town and along the seafront are where a second person does the work a dock would otherwise do. Give us the floor and the way in when you book.

At a terminal, yes. Our bookings run until 4pm, Monday to Friday, while each terminal keeps its own gate hours and those often finish earlier. Work to the site's deadline and tell us what it is.
